Please be careful when booking tours to Pinatubo with local travel agents; there is scant regard for health and safety laws. Local officials in Pinatubo are notorious for allowing tourists to trek despite bad weather conditions; in 2009 more than six people died, including three French tourists when they were allowed into the mountains during a typhoon.
